Hello Sydney!!!

This past weekend was pretty amazing for me. Cameron and I headed up to Sydney over the weekend, which I was really looking forward to. I was feeling pretty good which was great, during the week I had been feeling pretty average. Yay for the weekend!!!

The first bit of excitement for the weekend was at an open day at Nature Care College. I was attending the chat about the Diploma in Nutritional medicine. Working in this field would be my dream! I’ve been thinking a lot about studying this subject online for a while now. It’s an area I am very passionate about and I would love to get into. Over this year I have been improving really well, I’m still not ready to be back at work yet, but I do have a bit of energy to take something on.

At the open day I came to the conclusion that the school sounds very supportive and they will offer as much support as possible. The course can go on hold if I struggle. Everything sounded great, it’s definitely what I want. However no one can really tell me if I’m ready, only I know. The only way to find out is to start studying! I think I’m ready so let’s do this!

After all that excitement about my future it was time to check in to our hotel and rest. Cameron, Dad, my brother Chris and our friends Mike & Laura were competing in City2Surf the next day. I competed with them all back in 2012 and loved it. Unfortunately last year I was to sick and could barely move to be able come up and watch let alone compete. This year I was more than happy to be a spectator. Fingers crossed next year I’ll be well enough to compete.

Up on the top floor of the hotel we had prime City views! I was thinking back and I hadn’t actually been out and about in the city since I’ve been sick, I was so excited to be up in the city, I love Sydney!

After rest time, we met up with Dad, Mike and Laura for dinner then to a pub for a few drinks. I couldn’t believe I was still going!!!

Our hotel room was overlooking the City2surf start line. At 7am Cameron and I were awoken by the loud speaker at the start line. Rise and Shine!

I wished everyone luck, then headed up on top of the hotel roof to watch their group start. Their group went forever! Such a great view though.

Just before check out time I ventured out into the big city! I know my way around the city pretty well, I used to work up in the city a few years back and I got to know the city center really well.

Down in Town Hall station I felt a little overwhelmed at first, out and about by myself. A bit of anxiety hit, my brain turned to mush, I felt like I was dreaming. I found a quiet cafe, had a 20 minute rest and enjoyed a chai latte to help relax. It was all good.

I hit the shops, I had a smile plastered on my face that didn’t move. Every sales assistant I came into contact with was so friendly. I felt amazing! I was out and about, in SYDNEY! SHOPPING! What the?!?!?! Is this for real?!?!?!

I didn’t stop for 2 hours!! Where did sick Lennae go??? I eventually stopped after everyone had gotten back from the race.

The best part about it all is that even though this was a big weekend and I’m feeling a bit weary today. I’m not in pain or am I suffering like I have in past outings.

It’s an amazing feeling, thank you life for coming back!!!
